First call for EuFishBioMed STSM

The EuFishBioMed COST Action (BM0804) is launching short term scientific mission (STSM) fellowships.¬† The aim of these STSMs is to foster new collaborations between zebrafish/medaka laboratories in order to learn new techniques or to use specific equipments not available in the applicant’s institute, or to promote the use of fish models by laboratories not belonging to the zebrafish scientific community.¬† We plan to publish Fellowship calls twice a year.¬†

Applicants must be engaged in a research program in a COST member state and must go to an Institute or Laboratory in another member state actively participating in the COST Action EuFishBioMed.

The next deadline for STSM application is 20th April 2010.

Applications must be sent using the on-line registration tool available at the following website: http://www.cost.esf.org/stsm/

to Bernard Peers, chairman of the EuFishBioMed STSM Committee: bpeers@ulg.ac.be

Rules and selection criteria :

  1. The financial support is limited to travel and accommodation expenses and is not intended to cover experimental costs.
  2. The maximal financial support is 2500 Euros and mission duration should be between one week to 3 months.
  3.  Priority will be given to early stage researchers (PhD and postdoc).
  4. The host laboratory must be a zebrafish/medaka lab.
  5. Due to the limited number of fellowships, only one person per home Institute and host lab should apply for this call.
  6. The laboratory of origin and host laboratory should, in their recommendation letters, commit to covering the rest of the expenses related to the travel and project.
  7. The applicant is responsible for obtaining the agreement of the host institution before submission.
  8. The grantee is required to submit a short scientific report within 4 weeks after his stay.

NB: As this call corresponds to the first STSM fellowships of the EuFishBioMed Action, it will serve as “pilot test”.¬† The rules and selection criteria may thus be modified in future calls.

We expect that at least 6 STSMs (depending on the amount granted for each fellowship) will be granted for this call.
